The next travel destination on my list this year was the beautiful province of Bohol. Even the weather did not hinder us to make that trip and see what we gotta see... and we were not disappointed. Carry lang! :)
Aahh, Bohol... the popular tourist destination in the Visayas region aside from Boracay and Cebu of course and the home of the tarsiers. Tourist visiting the province has a more laid back kind of feel. Unlike those who were vacationing in Boracay which is too crowded and suffocating. In Bohol, they are there just to relax and unwind, enjoy the view, sites and sounds... as in literally the resorts there are very quiet and serene. They observe the tranquility of the place.
Being in Bohol makes you appreciate nature more, we were lucky enough that the accommodations we've booked was a beach front setting. So we pretty much enjoyed walking in the sand barefoot and eating our dinner alfresco style... naks! Aside from that, we were the only Pinoys who were checked-in on the resort during that time. As in all the guests in the resort were of different nationalities like Dutch, Germans, French... ooohhh lala... hahaha!
... visit the Mag-Aso falls. But there's a catch, before you could reach the falls itself, you have to go through 197 concrete steps. Huwaaattt??? But the view is really worth the exhaustion. The water is cold, clean and clear. Sarap magtampisaw sa tubig hehehe. Going back is another uphill climb. Imagine climbing 197 steps whew!!!. Super duper hingal ako non. According to Mr. Google, Mag-Aso falls derived its name from the Visayan term "aso", meaning smoke, which refers to the smoke effect created by the cascading waters.
... have lunch @ Bohol Bee Farm. They serve organic foods that they themselves harvested from their garden. Flowers like orchids are included in their salads, and it tastes good with their dressing. Their menus are mostly ala carte so you have to order what is really appealing to your palette. Try also their home-made ice cream with flavors of lanka, avocado, mango and malungay for dessert.
... enjoy the view! wake up early and have a hearty breakfast to jumpstart your day. Get ready for a looooong day ahead of you.
... stop by on the hanging bridge and eat a grilled banana cue. first time to try this one and ahluveeet!!!
... of course don't forget the chocolate hills, the tarsiers and the man-made forest
... take the loboc river cruise while having lunch.
... go dolphin watching early the next morning. we saw a good number of dolphins during that time.
... lounge in the pool the whoooole afternoon. take time for a real relaxation cause remember it's off peak season so you are the only ones in the whole resort. in our case we are the only Filipinos in the resort. we took advantage of the pool being available only for ourselves even just for an hour or two.
... explore the nightlife and chance upon a cool place. a band was playing just a few blocks away from the resort and so even if its drizzling mildly, off we go to the place to check it out.
... and last but definitely not the least, this is a MUST try when you're in Bohol. Try the Extreme Adventure Tour in Danao, Bohol. Ang LUPET neto!!!
Experience being transported from one mountain to another in a 450 meter-ride and 200 meters deep down the river while you are enjoying the Sky Ride, Plunging and Suislide. We've tried the Suislide and I tell you, it was a KICK ASS, fun ride. At first, I was very hesitant to try it but eventually I was persuaded to go on and take the challenge. Buti na lng sinubukan ko... I did not regret it in the end. Hahaha!!! My other officemates tried the Canyon Plunge, and they loved it!! So if you want to experience a once in a lifetime adventure, I definitely recommend this one. For us, this was the culminating event on our whole trip in Bohol. Hay!!! Happinesss... whhheeee!!!
